Tantra or sensual: two slow Amsterdam massage words explained side by side
Tantra and sensual are the two slowest words on the techniques list, and visitors often mix them up. Both are calm, with warm oil and long strokes. The difference lies in the breath, the pauses and the time each one asks for.
Sensual: slow hands and warm oil
Sensual massage is slow work with the hands and warm oil. The strokes are long and even, from the feet towards the shoulders. There is little talking, unless you want to talk. It asks nothing hard of you or of the room. For a first booking, or for a guest who cannot choose, it is the simple answer. Many guests who are unsure start here.
Tantra: slow touch that follows the breath
Tantra begins with breathing together. Then come light, very slow strokes over the whole body, with long pauses between them. A few simple words return again and again: in, out, slower, stay. Nobody expects you to know anything about tantra beforehand. All it asks is that you are willing to slow down. The pauses are part of the technique, not gaps in it.
The length each needs
Sensual works in one hour, and ninety minutes is the length many guests choose for it. Tantra needs more. Ninety minutes is its shortest booking, and two hours gives the breathing part more room. Three hours is possible for tantra too, and then half is always paid first.
Which one to choose
Choose sensual if you want a calm session with nothing new to learn. Choose tantra if you like the idea of slowing your breath, and if you have at least ninety minutes.
